The walk to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at an elevation of 4130m takes two hours from MBC, the views are splendid and you can see the whole Annapurna Massif in a close distance including Fishtail (Machhapuchhre), Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other snowy peaks.
‘Annapurna Sanctuary short trek -10 Days’ goes into the frozen heart of the Annapurna range, a splendid amphitheater of rock and ice on a surprising scale. The ‘Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short trail’ starts in rice paddies and leads through a gorge of bamboo and forests to end among glacier and tallest peak with supreme mountain experience. We drive to Kimi (Below Ghandruk) from Pokhara crossing Nayapul which takes about three hours and trek to Chhomrong (2210m). Chhomrong is the last permanent settlement of Gurung people in the valley. Then the ‘Annapurna Sanctuary short trek – 10 Days’ trail drops down a set of stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola, and climbs to Sinuwa through rhododendron forest to Kuldi (2470m) and enters to Mohi Khola Valley and continue walk to Bamboo (2310m).
The ‘Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short trail’ climbs through rhododendron forest to Dovan (2540m) and on to Himalaya Hotel (2840m); From Himalaya Hotel, we head to Hinko (3100m) and then to Deurali at the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. We alert our trekkers to be aware while trekking between Dovan and Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) as there is significant danger of avalanches along route to Annapurna Sanctuary. It is not recommended to trek further to Sanctuary if trail is fully covered with snow or heavy rain. Our team will be informed about the recent situation and guide the trip as per the condition.
There are several possible routes for ‘Annapurna Sanctuary Short Trek – 10 Days’ and all meeting at Chhomrong (2210m). The itinerary for ‘Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Short trail’ we prepared here is the shortest possible which is considered as moderate to strenuous and possible by any normal fit trekkers, the itinerary can be customize as per the trekker’s demand, though.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, one of our representatives from HimalayanWindows will receive you from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and transfer you to the hotel.
This day, our leader gives brief introduction of the trip and advise do’s and don’t s during the trekking; in the evening stroll around the city- shopping for the trek.
Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
Our guide will pick you up from the hotel early in the morning, you will be taken to the Tourist bus station and leave for Pokhara. The Bus leaves at 7:00 AM in the morning from Kantipath Bus station. It will take about seven hours to reach Pokhara. Stroll around Lakeside in Pokhara.
Note: If you want to finish Annapurna Base Camp trek in the shortest time possible, you may take an early flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and on the same day, drive to Kimi and trek to Chhomrong or at the nearest nice place possible.
Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara
After breakfast early in the morning, drive by a jeep from Pokhara to Kimi crossing Nayapul, Siwai and finally arriving at Kimi which takes about 3 hours. Upon reaching at Kimi, have a lunch and start the trek uphill to Jhinu Danda and Further an hour hike to arrive at Chhomrong Village.
Note: There are several routes (Ghorepani/Tadapai or Ghandruk/Kimrong or Tolka/Landruk) to the Annapurna Sanctuary or Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), all meeting at Chhomrong.
Overnight at Guest House in Chhomrong
After breakfast, trek down to the Chomrong Khola and continue climbing to Khuldighar (2380m). This route goes through steeply down a rock bank and then running though thickets of bamboo at the bottom of the gorge, keeping always on the west side of the river. We walk though bamboo and rhododendron forest Dovan and to the Himalayan Hotel.

After breakfast, the route climbs on past the Hinko Cave, Deurali and then Mahhapuhhre Base Camp (MBC). This area is totally surrounding by mountain and it is called Annapurna Sanctuary. Two hours trek from MBC you will reach to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at an elevation of 4130m. Enjoy the spectacular view of the Annapurna Massif including Fishtail, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other snowy peaks.

We trek back the same trail through the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo.
Overnight at Bamboo
After breakfast, continue trek to Jhinu. The trail leads uphill through the stone steep to the ridge before reaching Sinuwa. The trail then drops down to a hill from where you ascend to reach Chhomrong, and then trek further to reach Jhinu Danda. You can also enjoy Hot Spring Bath at Jhinu Hot Spring here.
Overnight at Jhinu
The end of the trek, walk right side of Modi Khola to Birethanti for about five hours which is the best and relaxing trail of the entire Annapurna Sanctuary trek.

After breakfast, drive to Kathmandu or you can also take a flight to have some spare time in Kathmandu.

End of the day of your trip to Annapurna Sanctuary short trek, transfer to the Tribhuvan International airport (TIA) for your final departure home or onward destination.
